- Does Advanced Interconnections Corp. (AIC) have a Quality Management System?
Yes - we are certified to the ISO 9001:2000 Standard. - Does AIC have an Environmental Management System?
No, not at the present time.
Product and Labeling Issues
- How will AIC distinguish product that contains Pb from product that is Pb-free?
AIC will conform to the JEDEC standard, JESD97, for labeling Pb-free 2nd level interconnect components. AIC products that are already lead-free and RoHS complaint will maintain their existing part numbers but will be identified as RoHS compliant on the lowest level shipping container per JESD97. New PB-free products that are introduced will have unique part numbers and labeling will also conform to JESD97. To support exempted applications, repair parts, etc., AIC will continue to offer SnPb versions of many products. Part numbers and labeling for existing SnPb products will not change. - What is the peak temperature rating of AIC's Pb-free products?
AIC has tested and approved new LCP molded insulators as well as FR-4 and Peel-A-Way® (polyimide film) insulators to withstand processing temperatures up to 260°C. - What alloys has AIC selected for its Pb-free product?
AIC's Pb-free solder ball material is 95.5Sn/4.0Ag/0.5Cu. We have selected matte Tin plating for our new RoHS compliant through-hole products. Terminals plated with matte Tin will only be available with Gold plated contacts. To avoid concerns with Tin whisker growth, we recommend the use of Gold plating on both terminals and contacts. - Are AIC's products backward compatible (use of Pb-free alloy product with SnPb paste)?
Our through-hole products released with matte Tin plating will be backward and forward compatible. In addition to terminal plating, the insulator material (mold compound) will change to withstand the elevated Pb-free processing temperatures.
AIC's Pb-free BGA products with Sn/Ag/Cu solder balls are not backward compatible. They must be processed at higher temperatures with the proper solder paste for acceptable solder joint yields.
Banned or Restricted Substances
- What is AIC's definition of "lead-free"?
We agree with the EU and define "Lead-free Products" as products in which the aggregate lead content will be less than or equal to 0.1% by weight (an amount consistent with the RoHS Directive), with specific exemptions for lead present as an alloying element as referenced in the directive. - Do all of AIC's current product offerings meet the bromine-free requirements of the European Legislation?
Yes - Do AIC's products contain any of the other materials that are banned by RoHS (Restriction on Hazardous Substances)?
To the best of our knowledge, after careful product content analysis, the amount of cadmium, hexavalent chromium, mercury, polybrominated biphenyls (PBB), and polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE) is either not detected or below the maximum limits currently stated in the RoHS Directive. - Where can I get a Material Declaration Data Sheet for AIC's current products?

Transportation Packaging Materials
- Do the transportation packaging materials comply with the European packaging directive?
Yes - refer to the complete packaging information on the Packaging Specs page (see link above). - Does AIC have a reuse and recycling program for these materials?
We currently recycle packaging materials used by our suppliers as applicable, but do not have a program in place for the return or reuse of packaging materials used in conjunction with our product shipments. All of our packaging material is recyclable and we encourage our customers to follow their local recycling guidelines.
